Story So Far

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded Arts Council Project funding.

This means that we can tour our dynamic, socially engaged exhibition to six venues before the end of 2023. Using empty shops in busy town centres, we engage with diverse audiences, including school, college and community groups. We will be delighted to welcome you to come and join us too. As we’re based in empty shops, dates and opening times will vary, so we’ll update our website as we confirm each venue. Follow us on Instagram @social.scaffolding.artists for regular updates.

Exhibition Timeline

Taunton (Pilot Exhibition)

24th September - 9th October 2022 | Orchard Shopping Centre

I stitched ‘feel’ into the Synapse on the first day the exhibition opened and I’ve been thinking about it so much I had to come back and add more. I made my own felt to show the way I feel. The work really resonated with me.
Lou’s knitted sculptures take on a life of their own.

Shepton Mallet

22nd April - 6th May 2023 | Create@#8

I loved visiting with friends and having the experience deepened by our shared experience. But also seeing how others were responding to the space. I also really appreciated being able to speak to each artist and to connect with them and their work. I enjoy participating, I think it helps us to engage more, think more and is therefore a much richer experience. We too become the artist.
This is like Tate Modern in Shepton Mallet

Gloucester

17th June - 2nd July 2023 | 2-3 The Forum, Eastgate

This beautiful exhibition has put a huge smile on my face. Thank you I loved it, come again!
Loved to be part of an exhibition where you are encouraged to touch and add to your own pieces.
I was an Octopus! I loved it very much (sculptures)

Trowbridge

24th September - 14th October 2023 | 2-3 Silver Street

What a great project in our neglected town centre. Great people, fun ideas and my perception was that there was interactive engagement on all sides.
Thank you, your work made me feel at peace with things. Keep going!

Bath (Pilot Exhibition)

17th-23rd October 2022| Emerge Studios, Sion Hill

I absolutely loved Juliet’s yoga class amongst the inspirational sculptures saturated with natural light. I feel like we almost became part of the installation.
There’s something ancient about this, people stitching and talking together as they work.

Weston-super-Mare

20th May - 4th June 2023 | Unit 27, The Sovereign

What a charming find on our visit to Weston-super-Mare. Love seeing and getting involved with all the exhibitions. The pom-pom making was excellent. Well done to the ladies that ran it. Five stars.
Love how interactive the exhibition is - so cool to be an observer and the opportunity to become part of the art!

Bristol

15th - 30th July 2023 | The Galleries

We visited last month in Gloucester and came again to make pom-poms with Lou. We had fun again
What a fun, immersive and stimulating environment to explore art. Well done ladies.
Congratulations on these important - inclusive and thought provoking works.

Swindon

11th - 26th November | The Designer Outlet Centre

It was amazing to give my children an immersive arts experience and give them the opportunity to explore something really different. The artists were amazing, friendly and supportive
I’ve enjoyed the presentation of community art as what it can be, and not as it sometimes feels (like a kid’s craft session, for want of a better phrase). It’s great to see that art is for everyone
